The Rising Cost of Renting

In some GTA neighbourhoods, a long-standing tradition has been flipped. It has always been cheaper to rent a property, as a lot of the hard costs fall on owners such as property taxes and condo fees. In 2021 the costs for rents have risen much faster for renters (65.2%) than owners (25.5%).

Recent studies have shown that in pockets of the GTA, it is now more expensive to rent than to own.
