Younger Renters Struggling

The Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton has conducted a rental housing market report and discovered some troubling trends. Renters (between 15-24 years old) are the group most affected by the rising cost of rental prices.

The outcome isn't surprising given low wages, unstable employment, and discrimination for younger renters.

The answer might lay with subsidized housing, where currently only 8% of this group qualify. Expanding subsidized housing for younger renters may open up new door for opportunities.
