Small Claims Court Jurisidiction Rises to $35,000.00 on January 1, 2020
For years the legal community has believed that the Ministry of the Attorney General would be raise the Small Claims Court jurisdiction to $50,000.00. Other provinces, such as Alberta ($50,000.00) and British Columbia ($35,000.00) were much higher than the $25,000.00 limit in Ontario.
On October 22, 2019 MAG announced that the jurisdictional limit for Small Claims Court will rise to $35,000.00 beginning January 1, 2020.
