New legislation penalizes Landlords for "taking back" their houses

The proposed Rental Fairness Act will penalize landlords who intend to use their own houses. Currently, under the Residential Tenancies Act, landlords can file an L2 application for "own use". Under the new proposed law, landlords would be responsible to pay tenants if using this remedy at the Landlord and Tenant Board. To read more, click here.
