Can police search through your texts?

The Supreme Court of Canada is set to hear a case on whether police are allowed to search through your text messages. The main question is, do police need a search warrant to sift through your phone? Or, the second you hit the send button all privacy is lost? This is an appeal from R. v. Marakah, which said that all privacy vanishes the second you send a text.
